The Customer:
Kandla Port is one of the major sea ports in India and it plays a leading role in the country’s EXIM trade.
The Challenge:
The customer has multiple frequencies of wireless communication on a wide spectrum, distributed over a large geographical area, dedicated to monitoring maritime communication and security of its premises. The critical communication between the control tower and sea vessels requires 24/7 monitoring.
The port traffic includes vessels from various non- English speaking countries, the port authorities often found it tedious to clearly communicate the navigational instructions to the vessels. The language barrier often led to disagreement and alterations in vessels parking at the harbor. The verbal instructions transmitted over air had to be reproduced in order to settle such disagreement.
The Solution:
The customized solution enabled the customer to have a centralized unit for live monitoring & recording of voice communication. The reporting function provides actionable intelligence about the vessel’s time of contact, docking duration in harbor resulting in efficient harbor management.
